Teaching: Model course, problem-oriented learning in small groups, anamnesis and examination courses, general-medical adoption programmes, patient contact from the first semester, clinically/practical instruction on the patient in approximately 60 week blocks in cooperating clinics, 1:1 bedside teaching, longitudinal curricula of subjects such as communication, ethics, research and health economy, fundamental studies.

Equipment: The total lab space available is 2,095 m² wit the usual instrumentation for basic research. In addition to the labs, a modern equipped animal shed is available (89 ms², S1 level). Additionally, besides animal sheds at Cologne Merheim, there are also two animal operating theatres available (144ms²) for small and large animals.
Research: Research at the faculty is multidisciplinary, international and translational oriented. "Integrative and personalized health care (IPHC)" is the joint research focus. In addition, there are four interdisciplinary research centres and three thematic research groups.
