  • Special features regarding teaching
    The close link between sound concepts and practical application is a general feature. The students will acquire the skills needed for solving problems independently and in groups. At the start of the course, the focus is on solid teaching of subject knowledge. Even at this stage, problem-solving skills and personal competence are developed with initial relatively short group projects and simulation games. As the course progresses, these specialisations take on an increasingly significant role. There is a strong relation to practice throughout all the phases of study.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Students are expected to spend at least one semester abroad. This may be a practical and/or theoretical semester. English-taught lectures are available in all courses of study. Together with our partner universities and international assistant professors, modules, case studies and excursions, such as the Study Tour or Summer School, are being offered. Our professors attend international expert conferences.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    Extensive technical resources are available to our students. the university has an e-learning platform, which is used to support the teaching in many ways. The library offers a variety of classical and e-media, which are available flexibly, e.g. via the campus WiFi. Modern IT labs and workstations and a virtual learning environment are used by our students as part of IT lectures, simulations or SAP training. Access to databases is being continuously expanded, for example, access to the Bloomberg terminal.
  • Special features regarding research and development
    The Economics and Transport department has cooperated with the Fraunhofer IAO at the LOGWERT research competence centre since 2015. There, it has the lead responsibility for the research competence field transport and logistics of the HHN. LOGWERT has 6 academic Staff members who work on the development and validation of business models for logistics solutions. In publicly and privately funded projects, electromobility with respect to freight transport takes up a particularly prominent area. There continues to be a close link between research topics and doctoral programmes in all research projects. 1 cooperative doctorate in the period 2013-2015.

  • Support for founders
    The programme has already yielded several start-ups. The target student group is clearly interested in entrepreneurship. Courses to qualify students have been offered as part of Business Administration and Corporate Management. One key course is business planning for new products in connection with business simulations. The networks for company founders in the region have already been expanded successfully.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    In cooperation with mentors and professors, a separate curriculum is prepared with students with chronic health problems, which enables them to complete their studies according to the exam regulations in a customised manner.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    Appointment committee. Utilisation of and active participation in special professors' support programmes, such as Mathilde-Planck. Special approvals and hardship applications. Continuing education campaign.
  • Other special features
    In addition to the close integration of sound concepts and practice, the degree courses are characterised primarily through a high degree of flexibility. The students are not obliged to choose a subject for in-depth study at the start of their course, but only at the start of their stage II studies. This facilitates the decision-making. Graduates have excellent job opportunities, both regionally and nationally
