Special features regarding teachingPractice orientation of all courses offered by external lecturers; practical study semester while studying; practice modules; comprehensive range of further education via the university's distance learning facility WINGS with numerous online, distance learning and Master's programmes; application-oriented teaching, courses of study impart the ability to apply scientific methods and knowledge and the specialist knowledge necessary for the transition to professional practice as well as the ability to work independently. Course programme allows for national, international activities.
Special features regarding the international orientationInternational Class: The programme is interdisciplinary and includes international issues. It is designed for two semesters and combines Business Administration, Business Informatics and Business Law, language of instruction is English. International Class students can attend all courses of the German programmes. As a rule, the courses in the international class are 4 hours per week. International focus: Foreign-language courses, international topics, promotion of stays abroad, International Office.

Special features regarding the equipmentMultimedia Centre supports the inclusion of multimedia technologies, offers video conference systems, the information system (LSF) for current information relating to academic studies, e-learning systems (e.g. ILIAS), production studio for e-learning applications, communications system (e-mail and calendar server, groupware server), VPN communication interface for home access to IT resources at the Hochschule Wismar, WWW server for information research and publications. WiFi on the entire campus/campus cloud/Microsoft MSDN Academic Alliance program for students/software packages such as Adobe, DATEV, SAP, LUDUS.
Special features regarding research and developmentProvision of a skills portal: this portal enables the internal and external exchange of knowledge for all faculties at the Hochschule Wismar. The portal gathers together various cooperations, publications and skills. Series of articles: "WDP – Wismarer Diskussionspapiere" (Wismar discussion papers): Contributions from national and international experts and professors; production studio for E-learning applications: development of didactic content for teaching that is implemented technically in the studio/online written exams/stud. research and development teams.
Support for foundersThe Robert Schmidt Institute offers the aspiring self-employed: Continuing education for business start-ups; networking and establishing contacts in career development; exchange of experience, networking and cooperation between entrepreneurs; latest research results on central topics of start-up and regional development. Founders' Office of the school: Since 2009, the Founders' Office is a cross-departmental service point for all those with an interest in start-ups. Network of advisors, cooperation partners and sponsors advise students (preparation of business plan); WPM: Start-up advice.
