    Key areas in the dissemination of methodical (quantitative) and social skills; Choice of four key study areas ("Accounting, Finance, Controlling," "Company Management", "Corporate Processes", "Cultural Management"); compulsory supported practical and/or mobility semester; lectures in small groups, very good student-teacher ratio; Integration of e-learning elements; Regular lecture series held by practitioners ("Merseburger sessions") as part of the teaching.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    In July 2013 the HS Merseburg initiated and established the International Project Management Summer School for the first time. It is organised in different locations each year, in cooperation with the Cardiff Metropolitan University and University of Nicosia. Furthermore, the Economic Sciences department provides up to EUR 10,000 from the department's resources for scholarships to enable students to study abroad.

    Two computer pools (20 or 15 workstations); access to practice modules, e.g. for DATEV and SAP; "Marketing Lab" with opportunities for 3D simulation and other functions; General access to the university's resources, especially TV studio, media production, economic and financial markets database "Macrobond", SpringerLink, Ebsco, ScienceDirect, Hoppenstedt company database, NWB database on tax and business law, Wiso-net, De Gruyter, SPSS and Eviews licences for the computer pools.

    Research focus "Process Management and Innovative Information Systems"; cooperations with regional companies in cooperation with students (in the form of seminar papers and degree theses, and as part of work placements); students as "IT advisers" in companies; Use of 3D simulations in marketing; connection to affiliated institutes (e.g. in Marketing). 1 cooperative doctorate in the period 2013-2015.

  • Support for founders
    Start-up service of the HS Merseburg. It actively supports students, graduates and academic staff in their move towards independence and assists them throughout the entire start-up process: From the development of a corporate idea to business start-up and support during the growth phase. The start-up service is supported through funds of the State of Saxony-Anhalt and the European Social Fund. The start-up service of the Merseburg University works closely with partners in the Halle-Saalekreis founders' network.
