Special features regarding teachingThe institute maintains a number of international exchange programmes. Of course, given the university’s orientation, the focus is on the Scandinavian and Baltic countries. There is also a lively exchange with France and Spain. The university supports the current project “Internationalisation at home”: Seminars in English are offered for all B.A. and M.A. modules. International researchers visit the institute regularly, enabling intense exchange of expertise.

Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsThe university offers comprehensive advice and assistance wherever required. There are points of contact to help with various personal issues or challenges. The Institute of Political and Communication Science is also large enough to be able to make additional provisions or offer additional services that are tailored to the students. For example, adjustments can be made to the type of examination if appropriate on account of a health impairment.

Characteristics of diversity advancementThe institute is committed to constantly improving conditions for non-German-speaking students, in particular by increasing the number of courses and accompanying practical classes delivered in English. This is intended to help promote diversity among the student population. The university/department is additionally making efforts to raise the percentage of women among the staff by including corresponding statements in its recruitment postings. Special mentoring programmes are additionally provided for the female academic staff.

Other special featuresGood general conditions: Culture of conversation and a good support ratio through events with a maximum of 25-30 participants; Double degrees in all BA programmes, which means numerous choices; Professionally qualifying: 1. the current project ‘Internationalisation at home’, which integrates international content and teaching in English into the study; 2. the event ‘Professional fields for political scientists’, where alumni of our institute give practical tips for starting a career twice a semester.
