Special features regarding teachingStudents of political science in Mannheim are trained by leading international researchers and they benefit from an excellent tutor-student ratio. The programme has occupied leading positions in national and international rankings. The high quality of the internationally oriented research infrastructure and the outstanding study environment deserve a special mention. In addition, students receive outstanding training in quantitative methods of social research.

Support for foundersThe University of Mannheim offers a very good environment for students who are interested in setting up their own business. Business Administration is very broad-based and explicitly covers business start-ups. In addition to this, the Institut für Mittelstandsforschung conducts research on start-ups and entrepreneurship and offers support and advice on the topic. There are also several student initiatives dealing with business start-ups.
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsStudents who have permanent health impairments can apply to have their examination deadlines extended. Appropriate compensation can also be made for coursework or examination performance if the student is unable to take part in the foreseen coursework or examinations. Both provisions are covered by the examination regulations. Individual arrangements can also be discussed with teaching staff at any time.
Characteristics of diversity advancementSupport for non-German-speaking scientists with funding for German language courses; provision of all relevant documents and information in English, communication in meetings and via the mailing list in English; “International Academics @ Uni Mannheim” coaching programme; Welcome Center on arrival for questions about finding accommodation, guest house, etc.; internationalisation and language support for staff with training courses (e.g. Intercultural Communication) and through ERASMUS staff mobility programmes; support for academics with children.
