Special features regarding teachingWith regard to teaching, the political science department has a focus on "EU" and "European multi-level governance", "IB and peace and conflict research" and "environmental policy and sustainable development". Students also receive in-depth training in methodology and there are numerous practical contacts in Germany and abroad. All professors have been newly appointed since 2016/17, which means the teaching is currently highly dynamic. The relationship between teaching staff and students is very close, and supervision is good.

Special features regarding the international orientationThe department has a very wide and intensive network of partnerships for opportunities to study abroad, focusing primarily on Central and Eastern Europe, and also in the Peace and Conflict Studies study programme on Latin America and Asia.

Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsThe faculty has an officer who is responsible for the following: Point of contact for students with health impairments/disabilities, facilities for creating appropriate learning, working and examination conditions and in particular reasonable adjustments, help with obtaining standard assistive devices, technology and personal assistance for students, help with equipping central scientific facilities for accessibility, cooperation with the local authorities in the higher education region

Other special featuresThe Department of Political Science has strong unique selling points with its teaching and research priorities IB/Peace and Conflict Research, Terrorism, EU Multilevel Policy and Brexit as well as Sustainable Development and the Environment, which are very attractive for students interested in these topics. Current research topics are integrated directly into teaching. As a result of the realignment since 2016 and the replacement of all professorships, there is a young, dynamic team overall.
