Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsClose cooperation exists with the central advisory offices of the University of Rostock to adjust study and examination arrangements in the best possible way to concrete individual requirements. This includes accessibility to teaching and events and adjusting study and examination formats to the needs of students with disabilities. Various possibilities for reasonable adjustments (e.g. extension of deadlines etc.) additionally exist in cooperation with the university’s officers for students with chronic conditions or disabilities.
Characteristics of diversity advancementThe institute faculty includes a French professor, a lecturer who originally comes from Ukraine and an Argentinian lecturer. The BA programme in particular has numerous migrant-background students, chiefly from the former Soviet Union and EU Member States. Through this diversity, we can better integrate students in the German teaching and research system and have them deal with interesting issues.
Other special featuresThe department has its own student organisation for students of the Teaching Qualification Social Studies: https://www.facebook.com/FALSHRO/. The institute has an active alumni association, to which students also belong. It also supports both student and academic courses at the Institute, organises an evening event each semester, as part of which graduates report on their career paths, awards an annual prize for the best doctoral theses, sponsors the journal "Politicum," published by the departmental student organisation. https://www.rostocker-politikwissenschaft.de/index
