Special features regarding teachingStudents can generally choose to take their courses in English or German. The acquisition of a second foreign language is compulsory. Almost all lecturers are native speakers. The teaching is designed to be intercultural with a focus on Spanish, Arabic or Eastern European countries, with a wide range of options in terms of courses, blended learning, bilingualism, thought laboratories, configurable lecture halls, integrated practical projects, excursions, and general studies.

Special features regarding the international orientationAll five Bachelor's programmes have an international orientation. Students can generally choose to take their electives in English or German. There are regular excursions to target regions as part of the courses. An international programme accreditation is sought. The international orientation is reflected also in the large number of incoming and outgoing students. Bilingualism, semester abroad, internships abroad, a wide range of foreign languages, international teaching staff, over 100 partners.

Special features regarding research and developmentNumerous colleagues participate in the university's research clusters and are also engaged in individual research, in some cases at the highest international level. In summer 2012, the Heilbronn Institute for Applied Market Research was founded. It pursues quantitative, qualitative and experimental market research in the four competence areas of social and opinion research, product optimisation, stakeholder management and market-oriented research. It also conducts research on new approaches and methods and supports companies with individual issues.
