Further information provided by the department

  • Special features regarding teaching
Lectures are offered two to four times in the 1st stage of study, so that there are smaller groups and the students can put together their own lecture schedule. Lectures are sometimes offered every semester, i.e. there is a reduced number of lectures also for repeaters and latecomers. Tutors help in the preparation of classes and in additional practice sessions. Online quizzes in the basic subjects and key areas allow students to check their learning success promptly. Special key-study area: Practical projects, two each for each specialisation, compulsory.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
As part of the English Programme, the Faculty offers all students a comprehensive programme of English language and international courses. Furthermore, the individual study programmes have worldwide collaborations with partner universities. For Business Administration alone, there are 71 cooperation agreements with partner universities.
  • Exchange universities for stay abroads
Hanze University of Applied Sciences in Groningen, Niederlande; Plekhanov University of Economics in Moskau, Russland; Shih Chien University in Thaipee, Taiwan; International College of Management of Sydney, Australien; Saimaa University of Applied Sciences in Lappeenranta, Finnland; Rajamangala University of Technology Phra Nakhon in Bangkok, Thailand; State Islamic University in Jakarta, Indonesien; St. Petersburg State University of Business and Economics, Russland; Unicorn College in Prag, Tschechien.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
In addition to the university-wide WiFi access and the various PC pools, students can access the infrastructure of the university media centre. Extensive software licence agreements enable students to use numerous programmes and packages, some of which can even be installed free for students on their personal computers. The lecture theatre assignment display and info boards show which rooms are currently free and so are open to the students to use. In addition: Media laboratory, 3D printing laboratory, SAP rooms, BeHaVe Lab, Process Lab, Digital Business Lab.
  • Special features regarding research and development
A variety of single- and multiple-semester practical projects in the key area subjects show the students how to work independently. The Academic Work class systematically introduces the students to the relevant methodologies and is followed immediately by the chance to deepen their understanding with specified academic tasks. The involvement of professors in different institutes of the FHWS helps to demonstrate the activities of the teaching staff at the Economics faculty.
