Special features regarding teaching
The teaching is based on the professional profile for Business IT specialists, that draws graduates of Business Information Technology as designers of (internal) digitalisation and (internal and external) digital transformation. This is reflected in three main topics of the course. These are the areas of Software Engineering, Data Science & Big Data and Digitisation & Digital Transformation.
Special features regarding the international orientation
The Bachelor's degree in Business Informatics is not an international degree, but some courses are offered in English.

Hochschule Luzern, Schweiz; IUT Robert Schuman, Strasbourg, Frankreich; Namibia University of Science and Technology, Windhoek, Namibia.
Special features regarding the equipment
Software: Microsoft Imagine Premium (e.g. Windows operating systems, Visual Studio programming environments, database software), Microsoft Office 365 (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point etc.), Adobe (campus license for media software such as Photoshop, Adobe Writer, InDesign etc.), SAP (SAP University: SAP ERP), ACL (software for GRC: Governance, Risk, Compliance), IBM (MAP license, e.g. database software, data mining). Additional equipment: Notebook trolleys, Apple TV in the lecture halls and iPads to present for the lecturers, digital Samsung flipcharts, VR glasses, 3D printers, virtual desktops.
Special features regarding research and development
In some cases, the lecturers in the Business Informatics course, together with their colleagues in other business-related courses, undertake some transfer and research projects.
Support for founders
Through the Dr. Werner Jackstädt Centre, the Department of Economics supports students, science and the practice of founding supporters. In the Jackstädt Entrepreneurship Centre (JEC), the primary goal is to raise the potential for start-ups among students and academics. Here, the Jackstädt Entrepreneurship Centre (JEC) pursues a 3-step process of raising awareness / motivation for the topic of entrepreneurship, qualification within the framework of entrepreneurship teaching and initial support as a support program for those interested in starting a business.
