Special features regarding teachingThe Bachelor's degree course in Business Informatics is characterised by a balanced combination of Business Administration and technical content. The content of the course is taught in the Institute for Business Informatics and the Faculty of Computer Science. The Bachelor's degree course offers the possibility to qualify subsequently for the Master's degree course "International Information Systems".

Special features regarding the international orientationKey areas of internationalisation are English-taught courses of study and stays at renowned partner universities in Europe, Asia as well as North and South America. The number and excellence of international students and teachers are growing continuously. Professors and staff complete programmes for the development of international competencies (teachers' mobility, Admins Go Global, etc.). Internationalisation is enshrined in the department's strategy and supported by the Vice-Dean for international affairs and a separate International Office.

Special features regarding research activitiesThe Department of Economics at the Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg is one of the strongest research departments in Germany. In a comparison of academic publications, the number of doctorates and the volume of acquired third-party funds, it is ranked in the leading group in Germany. numerous research contributions are published in leading journals that are renowned both nationally and internationally. Support for foundersStudents, staff and professors at the FAU who wish to start up a business will be advised extensively by the founders' office at the wtt contact point. The contact point also helps with matters related to start-up funding and offers support with applications for university-specific funding programmes for founders. Courses of the department help to prepare students specifically for a future career as entrepreneurs. The ZOLLHOF as a digital business incubator represents the central hub for digital founders from science and business since the end of 2016.

Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsHealth problems may often pose particular difficulties for students. To prevent disadvantages, the department provides extensive support measures in close cooperation with central services: Expansion and construction of barrier-free facilities, assistance with seminars and lectures, disadvantage compensation during examinations, assistance for blind and visually impaired students.

Characteristics of diversity advancementUnder the equality concept, the university is committed to ensuring diversity and gender mainstreaming. The "Office of Gender and Diversity Management" drives equality-oriented strategic planning and organisational development. Gender equality at the department is pursued on the basis of agreed targets and is aimed at increasing the share of women in scientific positions. There are numerous services to this end: Funding, such as conference support or the department's Women's Award as well as non-monetary support.
