Special features regarding teachingThe Mannheim Business Informatics programmes are provided jointly by the Business Informatics and Business Mathematics as well as Business Administration departments. The courses offer numerous specialisation options in the areas of Enterprise Information Systems, Data Analytics, Big Data, Software Engineering, Security and Reliability of IT Systems; there are very good entry opportunities with regional employers (e.g. SAP, Daimler, BASF, Roche, Bilfinger & Berger, as well as many medium-sized companies).

Special features regarding the international orientationThe Master's programmes in Business Informatics and Data Science can be studied entirely in English. They have a high proportion of international students; Mannheim is known as a cosmopolitan, international city; large number of exchange programmes with internationally renowned universities.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe technical equipment is up to date; in addition to lecture halls equipped with modern multimedia technology, campus-wide WiFi coverage, pool rooms with 45 PC workstations and servers for Big Data projects are available. Additional computing power can be used via the BW Cluster.

Special features regarding research activitiesBroad spectrum of applied research in cooperation with companies as well as basic research and targeted transfer of knowledge in courses; numerous DFG, BMBF and BMWi-funded research projects.

Support for foundersSupervision and coaching of spin-offs by the Institut für Mittelstandsforschung, Gründungsberatung des Gründerverbunds Entrepreneur Rhein-Neckar e.V (Mannheim Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation ) directly at the university, numerous company contacts via the Institute for Enterprise Systems (InEs); extensive experience with EXIST start-up grants. A number of successful business start-ups have emerged from the field of Business Informatics courses (e.g. Ubivent, STOCARD, Treasury Intelligence, Synchronite, Movilitas, OPAL Analytics).
