Special features regarding teachingLectures by guest professors and managers from companies; international orientation (52 partner universities); Each course comprises lectures and exercises; Screen/podcasts for many courses to encourage independent studying, as well as further information are available on the campus-wide learning platform; Discussion forums for all course participants; central independent learning environments such as the media workshop and an automated sound studio for training in public speaking; Various Summer School courses; Libraries open until 10.00 pm; optimal supervisory ratio thanks to the limited number of places available.
Special features regarding the international orientationThere are special exercises for international students (accounting, cost and performance accounting). These should also be taken by Business Informatics students (at least 3 Business Administration courses in the first phase of study). Subject-specific course guidance is available to international students.

Special features regarding the equipmentFree software for students via Academic Alliances; WiFi in all parts of the buildings (even in the libraries); PC rooms (hardware is renewed approx. every three years) with interactive whiteboards; central printing services in the computer centre; Projectors in all lecture theatres and seminar rooms; chair has its own laboratories for students with specialist hardware and software (from latest smartphones and tablets to high-performance computer systems), supervised by certified staff.
Special features regarding research activitiesBusiness Informatics in Regensburg is one of the internationally leading research groups, working on the areas of IT Security, Internet Business, Business Engineering, Quality Management, etc.: publications for renowned journals and conferences; many research projects and third-party funding from DFG, EU, BMBF, Bavarian federal state ministries, etc.; many application-oriented research projects with well-known companies; many academic prizes and honours; alignment with many renowned conferences (e.g. ECIS 2005, ARES 2013); chair spin-offs; affiliated institutes, such as "ibi research“.

Support for foundersThe department expressly encourages start-ups, with professors acting as mentors for entrepreneurs. So far, there have been two start-ups: NEXIS and ibi Systems. There are also student management consultancies (e.g. InTouch), providing assistance with planned start-ups. In addition, business informatics engineers are involved in spin-offs (e.g. enactus Regensburg).
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsThere is a contact point for students with health issues. The individual needs of each student with chronic impairments are identified through counselling sessions. For example, the student in question may be granted time extensions for exams or extensions for submitting assignments.
Characteristics of diversity advancementThe Master’s in Business Informatics is also open to applicants from methodologically related fields (e.g. BSc Computer Science, BSc Information Management (BSc. Physics), which encourages diversity among Master’s students. Guest speakers representing various key research areas are invited to the research discussion group; attendance of international conference in particular is subsidised through travel cost grants.
