  • Special features regarding teaching
Mentor programme in which students are assigned a mentor from business who coaches and is the contact person during their studies; Excellence module, in which the five best students from the third and fourth semesters learn about scientific work with the aim of achieving a PhD degree and entrepreneurship with the aim of founding a company; "Expand your knowledge, extend your network" series of lectures to intensify the collaboration between teaching and practice during your studies.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
Graduates with international experience are much in demand in a globalised world. This is why the Business Informatics department has a clear, international focus. One particularly attractive option involves taking an academic semester abroad. This is intended for the 6th semester, with recognition of subject credits having been simplified. The practical semester and the thesis can be completed abroad as well. In this case, the same rules apply to the practical and/or thesis semesters as back home. According to a survey among graduates, the experience gained during the semester abroad has been rated consistently as very positive.

  • Special features regarding research and development
The faculty is an initiator of a cooperation programme with the University of Plymouth for the attainment of a PhD degree for academically interested and talented students. It supports students in the cooperative doctoral programme.
  • Support for founders
In the eBusiness programme, students develop e-business ideas already in the first semester and create business plans. These ideas can then be pursued and developed further in higher semesters in various lectures. In the ideal case, this may result in a start-up, e.g. in cooperation with the HFU business incubator.
