Special features regarding teachingComputer science degree programme that establishes a clear link to business issues. The fields Computer Science and Business Administration exist as independent programmes, which why students benefit from a broad subject-specific range of courses with specially tailored lectures. Other programmes, such as Industrial Engineering or Law, complete the varied range. Specialisation in the 5th/6th semester: broad elective subjects for specialisation and for gaining specialist knowledge for certain sectors.
Special features regarding the international orientationEnglish-language courses in the elective subject area; many partner universities abroad and extensive recognition of credits earned abroad; large range of foreign languages at the university; mandatory English and Business English in the course; further recognition of language courses in the elective courses.

Special features regarding research and developmentThe Institute for Information Systems (Institut für Informationssysteme), iisys, is the central research institution in Computer Science at the Hochschule Hof. There is a Competence Centre for business applications of information systems. This builds a bridge between the international research and development in this area and its actual application in companies. The following research groups are currently set up at the department: Analytical information systems, multimedia information systems, smart grids, system integration.
