The special character of our teaching concept provides a qualification for life-long learning. Teaching is also supported by subject-specific laboratories, which demonstrate practical scenarios.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe department has a modern learning and teaching environment that students can use flexibly. Current tools are used in courses and in the laboratories, so that students are familiar with the current state of the art and can apply them directly in practice.

Special features regarding research and developmentIn the Master's courses, students work on research-oriented theses which are the requirement for cooperative doctorates with national and international universities. Targeted promotion of junior researchers through participation in conferences, research projects and by working as academic assistants in the faculty. A key area of research is in the cooperative teaching and research network at the Herman Hollerith Centre, which was founded jointly with the Stuttgart University and which involves the IT research departments of the participating companies.

Support for foundersThe topic of entrepreneurship is firmly anchored in the Business Informatics curriculum and can also be further deepened individually by providing a wide range of election events. In addition, at Reutlingen University there are numerous offers and support options in the area of start-ups, which can be used by students in parallel with their studies.

Other special featuresInternational exchange programs and a doctoral program at the Herman Hollerith Centre for Services Computing. The Herman Hollerith Centre (HHZ) is a cooperative teaching and research network, which was founded jointly by the Stuttgart University and HS Esslingen and which involves the IT research departments of the participating companies in the regions of Böblingen and Reutlingen.
