  • Special features regarding teaching
Students can choose from a range of four areas of specialisation, each with two elective specialisations according to their own interests. This is intended to help in placing the focus of the course on Core Informatics, Business Informatics or more on the economic or creative side. Practical relevance is simulated at an early stage through business games; almost 95% of the Bachelor's theses are created in cooperation with companies / administrations.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
Driving simulation laboratory; Laboratories for mobile and embedded systems, “PaDSLab - Programming and Distributed Systems”, telecommunications, usability engineering, vigilance test laboratory; Workstation pool audio laboratory, computer graphics, “DBCC - Database Competence Centre”, “DSCC - Decentralised Systems Competence Centre”, multimedia, 3 PC pools; SAP, DATEV, ARIS, and special software for marketing and IT service management.
  • Special features regarding research and development
According to ThürHG, the research activities and the knowledge transfer are regarded as essential tasks of the faculty. Important criteria for the evaluation of the productive efficiency of the faculty in this field include the funded or directly financed research projects, projects in knowledge transfer, mostly in the form of commissioned projects, and cooperative doctorate programmes. Currently there are six cooperative doctorate programmes at the faculty. The research activities have led to seven start-up (Exist Seed) applications.
  • Other special features
Thanks to the close proximity to the degree courses Computer Science and Mobile Computing, various inter-disciplinary lectures (in particular for the specialisation fields) will be offered. The University's own graduate association regularly enables students and graduates to compare notes on their practical experience at joint events.
