Special features regarding teachingStudents are prepared for work in a variety of fields within Social Work. The theoretical, organisational and methodological knowledge that is taught is systematically converted into specialist practical knowledge during the course of study. This also includes the acquisition of necessary legal, administrative and fiscal specialist knowledge.

Special features regarding the international orientationStudent mobility is expressly encouraged by the faculty of Social Work of the University of Landshut by way of semesters abroad (work placement or academic semester). Regular teacher and student exchange with cooperating European universities and study trips to various countries are part of the programme to allow for familiarisation with social work at the international level. The Faculty of Social Work has been a member of the European network “European Research Institute in Social Work” since 2011.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe department has modern teaching facilities as well as a separate study room for students. The library is open 24 hours a day. Special features regarding research and developmentThe faculty teaching staff have strong networks in academia and practice in their respective fields of specialism and are regularly asked to provide consulting and advisory services to social institutions, associations, churches, foundations, ministries and unions. As part of the key research area “Social Change and Cohesion Research”, several larger-scale research projects are being conducted that currently involve six academic staff members.
