  • Special features regarding teaching
    The special nature of a close link between theory / university and practice is not only evident in the course structure (integrated practical semester; lecturers from practice) and course content (elective areas, projects), but also in the diverse cooperation between professors and practice (in research projects, advisory boards or voluntary board work etc.). Teaching takes place using innovative forms of teaching and learning (numerous group and project work, research-based learning, etc.) using modern media.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    In the Bachelor degree course in Social Work, students can choose an INTERNATIONAL specialisation, which comprises at least 15 credits for the acquisition of international subject-specific skills and 15 credits for the acquisition of cross-cultural skills. Students are supported to spend a practical or theoretical semester abroad. Every semester there is an English language course offering at least 30 ECTS. The specialisation"International Social Work” in the Master’s of Social Work examines social work within international and cross-cultural contexts; classes are partly bilingual.

    Computer pool, extensive media equipment in all rooms, computer workstation for blind and visually impaired people, audience response systems, collaborative and. creative and productive online applications, digital whiteboards, smartboards (digital flipcharts), mobile media (notebook trolleys with notebooks, tablet cases, audiobook design pens), media workshop / media.education.lab with HD video cameras, microphones, tripods, green screen studio, fixed and mobile VR glasses systems. Research databases, legal databases, SPPS, MAXQDA.

    The department is committed to research and development, many projects are carried out together with practice, other universities and research institutions, are interdisciplinary and are funded by well-known funding institutions (e.g. state and federal ministries).
