  • Special features regarding teaching
    Links with the courses offered by the Faculty; High degree of practical relevance through the use of software systems, various laboratories including ERP, smart production, digital fabrication and RFID, close corporate partnerships, case studies in small study teams and project seminars; Excellent opportunities for studying abroad; Courses in German and English; Blended learning; Intensive support by professors and chairs; Involvement in research projects; active support for start-up goals; active participation in the chairs in preparation for a doctorate is possible.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Business Informatics is closely integrated with the Department of Economic Sciences. There are 60 exchange agreements with international universities. What is more, beginning in 2017, Master students will be able to start a dual-degree programme in Business Informatics with a renowned international university. Bachelor and Master students have access to many (visiting) assistant professors who represent an international focus.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    Numerous research and teaching laboratories including ERP, smart production, digital fabrication and RFID are available for research and teaching, e.g. for Bachelor or Master theses or project seminars. A very well stocked digital and traditional library ensures good study and research conditions. Several modern computer pools and campus-wide WiFi can be also be used outside of lectures.

    The chairs of Business Informatics are involved in numerous research projects at the national and international level, with students becoming involved all the time. The professors have very good international networks and credentials. All professors have personal start-up experience.

  • Support for founders
    Many teachers in Business Informatics and all Business Informatics professors have personal entrepreneurial and/or start-up experience. They actively support start-up projects through advice and assistance regarding funding, networking with entrepreneurs and entrepreneurs’ networks, information on these topics, and they also offer their own courses on these topics.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    To promote students with disabilities, the department relies on the university’s contact and information point for students with disabilities and chronic illness. This comprises, for example, advisory services (e.g. on admissions, equalisation of disadvantages, study planning), the implementation service for blind and visually impaired students as well as a pool of aids. In addition, Business Informatics has completed the first, Bavaria-wide, support project “Doctorate Included” to promote graduates with severe disabilities at the doctorate level.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    The department participates in the “Global Systems and Cross-Cultural Skills” project. This is a unique, Germany-wide joint project of various departments of the University of Würzburg. Students can acquire cross-cultural skills in a course-integrated manner. Furthermore, the department is closely linked to the facilities of the universities with respect to the promotion of diversity, and can rely on their services.

    Partnerships between business and science, expansion of the faculty in recent years, interdisciplinarity, promotion of stays abroad, start-up experience of and support by professors, close integration of students in chair operations, physical proximity of the entire faculty to the old town, Business Informatics housed in a single building.
