  • Special features regarding teaching
Close theory-practice relationship on a scientific basis; large student orientation, e.g. study advice; teaching in relatively small groups; involvement of students in further development of content through evaluation and participation of semester speakers in module conferences; already in the Bachelor's degree course, emphasis on research activities; end-to-end diversity orientation in the curricula; trans-disciplinary understanding of social work, on which the contents of the modules are geared; development of self-reflection skills, also with regard to one's own value basis.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
“Social Work International” profile: Social work students should be empowered to be actors in the process of internationalisation, transnational developments and globalisation. The certificate within the BA Social Work demonstrates a specific profile with international and transnational perspectives. This includes the acquisition of additional (subject-specific) knowledge about social work, social security, welfare state systems and structural conditions in other countries. Alignment with international scientific discourses on social work.

Research into Gender Studies, Education in Childhood, the Elderly, Society, Participation and Civil Society is particularly prevalent. All degree courses are characterised by a focus on research. In the Bachelor of Social Work, research methods are introduced in an introductory manner and applied in their own empirical study projects. The Master's degree in Social Work is explicitly research-oriented. The cooperation between the university's teaching and research network (FIVE) takes place consistently.
  • Other special features
High proportion of professors from Social Work, interdisciplinary teaching, consistent orientation to questions of social work. Excellent supervisory ratio. Good networking with local (practice) partners and local actors. Interlinking between practical and theoretical semesters, careful practical support. Service learning offers: Voluntary engagement by students is accompanied in courses. Through this curricular integration, the practical involvement serves to develop subject-specific skills. Short distances and direct contact to the professors.
