Special features regarding teachingThe materials covered in lectures are supplemented in small-group exercises. Knowledge transfer is characterised by the use of interactive learning methods. Seminar-style teaching and case work, projects and excursions are considered very important. The interactive learning platforms also play an important role. Students are expected to participate actively, such as by way of presentations and self-directed learning.
Special features regarding the international orientationStudents can complete the study-integrated vocational work placement abroad in the fourth semester. The necessary preparation and planning process is supported by a specific course on the work placement abroad. Apart from university partnerships in Austria, Poland and Hungary, teachers of the programme maintain international contacts with Brazil and Russia.

Special features regarding the equipmentFriendly, bright seminar rooms, Wi-Fi coverage throughout the university premises, complete media exhibition of all course rooms, some including smartboards. We have licensed the following databases for Social Work: PsycINFO; WISO; SOLEX; Beck online; juris spectrum.
Special features regarding research and developmentThe Social Work programme cooperates with the university’s own research institute “Institute for Planning and Evaluation”. In terms of methods and staff, for example, the Institute supports research projects of programme teachers, and contract studies are performed in the professional fields of social work. To this end, the Wichern Research Institute was founded with Protestant Social Work in Rummelsberg. Current studies include: Youth social work in schools; "Current situation and the need for a conceptual change in the clearing house work of Rummelsberger Diakonie in Nuremberg".
