Special features regarding teachingHigh proportion of exercises and practicals; Combination with bionics, solutions from nature; Also considered from the perspective of cost-effectiveness through joint projects with industrial engineers.

Special features regarding the international orientationRecognition of credits and examinations at foreign universities; Consideration given to the shifted semester timetable at foreign universities, e.g. in New Zealand, Australia.

Special features regarding the equipmentPracticals are less equipped with didactic systems, more with industry products, e.g. in the fields of Machine Tools, Robots and Drive Systems. In addition to many laboratories, two machine halls are also used, one in the university, one in the technology park next to the university.

Special features regarding research and developmentThe faculty has formed 2 internal institutes: The Mechatronics Institute Bocholt and the Bionics Institute Bocholt. The Mechatronics Institute emerged from the cooperation with the University of Twente/Netherlands approx. 12 years ago.

Other special featuresThe university is supported by a very active funding organisation. There is also the Otto-Spaleck Foundation to promote young academics. Interdisciplinary structure of the department with Mechatronics, Bionics and Industrial Engineering.
