Special features regarding teachingThe Bachelor's degree course in Mechanical Engineering is highly practice-oriented and supports students in their personal development (soft skills). 3 projects help maintain close contact to industry. The students can choose between four specialisations: Energy and Environmental Engineering, Vehicle Engineering, Mechatronics and Production Engineering. Possible additional qualifications: Instructor certificate, operating officer for environmental protection, welding engineer, quality manager. Students also have the opportunity to do a doctorate in cooperation with the TU Chemnitz.

Special features regarding the equipmentState-of-the-art laboratories; EUR 3 million has been invested in the past seven years to improve the technical facilities. Among other things, the following has been procured: Engine test bench, CNC machinery, teach-in machines, tribology test bench, performance test bench for measuring axis, virtual welding, injection moulding, rapid prototyping (FTM). The CAD, CAE, FEM and Manufacturing Engineering Measurement Laboratories were expanded and the following laboratories completely redesigned: Mechatronics, Simulation, Vehicle Engineering and Technical Ceramics.
