-
Special features regarding teachingThe degree course was awarded the VDMA university prize for ‘Best Machine Hall 2015’, a programme academic success in mechanical engineering. We offer supporting courses throughout the degree programme (Long Night of Maths, online learning platform and tutorials). You can follow all courses digitally or benefit from the small size of the course on site. The entire degree programme is characterised by high levels of practice and integrated exercises. The current practical relevance is guaranteed by a high number of lecturers from industry and excursions.
-
Special features regarding the international orientationLong-standing partnerships are in place with many international universities. Master's students have the opportunity to do some of their degree at the University of South Wales and gain a double degree. Students who wish to do their practical semester abroad have access to the contacts of the degree programme and receive extensive support from the department's international adviser.
-
Special features regarding the equipmentThe degree programme provides access to laboratories for all sub-disciplines of mechanical engineering. Among other things, technical facilities include a virtual reality laboratory, a laboratory for autonomous systems, a hydro pulser, computer systems with a variety of calculation and simulation programs, all common processing machines, surface analytics and a laboratory for lightweight construction and fibre-reinforced plastics. In addition, students of the course run a 3D printing laboratory where fellow students can create their own CAD designs and implement them.
-
Special features regarding research and developmentDevelopment of an Industry 4.0 production cell; Development of autonomous vehicles for industrial applications, e.g. as part of the Industry 4.0 concept; Design, manufacture and testing of fibre-reinforced lightweight structures; ZIM project "Laser cutting methods for the separation of living cell tissue" (cell culture robot); EMOKO project "Development of a mobile collaboration environment" (digitisation in the field of cooperative collaboration); DiP (Digital Product Lifecycle); Bilateral projects in the field of operational stability; Development of a manned submarine
-
Support for foundersThe department is involved in many entrepreneurship events (e.g. "Elevator Pitch", which awards prizes to particularly innovative start-up ideas, or "Startup Nights") to offer young entrepreneurs a platform for their start-up ideas and feedback from experts. The department works closely with the Tailfingen technology workshop, which offers young company founders rooms, infrastructure and a network for their start-up ideas. An experienced start-up manager supports company founders in implementing their ideas and provides valuable contacts.
-
Other special featuresThe degree course offers a personal atmosphere and direct contact between students and professors, with a high level of practical relevance. The Career Center supports the transition to a career by means of a good network and a wide range of offers for further qualifications. Students can also take part in many excursions, company visits and trade fair visits on top of their regular classes. Die Albstadt-Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences is a certified family-friendly university. Flexible part-time study is possible and will be individually coordinated with you.

(ME)= Mechanical Engineering (IntDiscip)= very interdisciplinary and thus not classified;
As the ranking is done for the whole subject area, for the single "sub-subjects" it can happen that not all rank groups are represented in all criteria.
