  • Special features regarding teaching
    The mechanical engineering faculty offers sound technical training in the fields of mechanical engineering and automotive engineering at Bachelor's and Master's level. The graduates of the faculty can start their careers as specialists or managers in regional and international companies. The faculty's Master's degrees offer additional specialisations and the opportunity to apply their scientific knowledge and necessary skills, which prepares them for a subsequent doctorate degree. In addition to the professors, many teaching staff come from industry, which ensures up-to-date and practice-oriented training at a high level.

    Cooperation with the California State Polytechnic University Pomona: Lecturer exchange since approx. 2014, student exchange opportunities are being set up; Cooperation with ANFA & GARAC France: The possibility of exchange projects is being created including the recognition of academic achievements, reciprocal excursions

    Numerous laboratories with modern equipment and intensive support from professors and laboratory engineers/scientific staff; Access to many technical databases (e.g. norms, e-books, specialist journals); Library with 24-hour access to extensive range of specialist literature

    The key research area lightweight construction was established by the lightweight construction competence centre (LLK) and a lightweight construction cluster (LC). The LLK is a research institute with well-equipped laboratories for R&D projects in the fields of material mechanics, operational stability, numerical simulation, lightweight construction. The energy and environmental technology research focus with its own technology centre in Ruhstorf an der Rott continuously researches new technologies, including as part of international projects. Cooperation with the electrical engineering faculty at the technology centre PuLS for production and logistics systems.

    The start-up ambassador Prof. Dr.-Ing Sven Roeren serves as point of contact, intermediary, adviser and supporter for company founders and those interested in starting a company, from the initial idea to the company set-up.
