Special features regarding teachingImparting basic knowledge from interdisciplinary fields; practice-oriented curriculum with contemporary content; Individualisation through two specialisations: Industrial production with industrial engineering and lean production and information / communication with IT-based subjects for digitisation; very good networking with regional companies; organisation of company workshops, excursions to companies, visits to trade fairs with own stands.
Special features regarding the international orientationThe international orientation is encouraged and promoted throughout the department. For example, the creation of a new faculty-wide international representative with the aim of promoting internationalisation; expansion of the range of electives in English; invitation of international personalities to lectures at the faculty; PhD program with Northumbria University in Newcastle; double degree possibility with the University of Strasbourg.
Special features regarding the equipmentNew campus building; most modern IT equipment; further developed laboratory landscape and use of state-of-the-art software tools (for example VR power wall, 3D printer lean laboratory); modern equipment of the lecture rooms; establishment of a separate PC and study room for the students; reconstruction and modernisation of the library.
Special features regarding research and developmentDevelopment of modern laboratories for application-oriented research: Collaborative Robotics Lab, RFID-Lab, Customer Experience Tracking Lab, Plant Simulation Software; Acquisition of third-party funding (DFG, ZIM projects); increasingly topics for theses and tutorials from research projects.
