  • Special features regarding teaching
    Imparting basic knowledge from interdisciplinary fields; practice-oriented curriculum with contemporary content; Individualisation through two specialisations: Industrial production with industrial engineering and lean production and information / communication with IT-based subjects for digitisation; very good networking with regional companies; organisation of company workshops, excursions to companies, visits to trade fairs with own stands.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    The international orientation is encouraged and promoted throughout the department. For example, the creation of a new faculty-wide international representative with the aim of promoting internationalisation; expansion of the range of electives in English; invitation of international personalities to lectures at the faculty; PhD program with Northumbria University in Newcastle; double degree possibility with the University of Strasbourg.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    New campus building; most modern IT equipment; further developed laboratory landscape and use of state-of-the-art software tools (for example VR power wall, 3D printer lean laboratory); modern equipment of the lecture rooms; establishment of a separate PC and study room for the students; reconstruction and modernisation of the library.
  • Special features regarding research and development
    Development of modern laboratories for application-oriented research: Collaborative Robotics Lab, RFID-Lab, Customer Experience Tracking Lab, Plant Simulation Software; Acquisition of third-party funding (DFG, ZIM projects); increasingly topics for theses and tutorials from research projects.
