Broad subject area and interdisciplinary approach; close, successful integration with large-scale research; Research-oriented teaching; Many teaching staff with industry experience; possibility of drawing on large-scale research when completing final theses; high proportion of women amongst students and academic staff; large number of required internships, some with an excellent supervision ratio.

Special features regarding the international orientationHigh proportion of foreign students. Possibility of completing the prescribed industry work placement abroad in coordination with faculty lecturers. Some English-language lectures are offered in the electives area. Support for students in the planning of their semester abroad and recognition of achievements by the departmental Erasmus Coordinator.

Special features regarding research activitiesResearch is geared towards the requirements of a resource-efficient and increasingly data-based industrial society. Research focuses: Development of processes for the closure of material and energy cycles (circular economy); Synthesis of chemical energy carriers; Development of process-engineering and biotechnological processes for processing raw materials of biological origin; Development of processes for water reuse and further use, development and use of digital tools.
