  • Special features regarding teaching
    An orientation semester for technical degree courses, preliminary and introductory courses are offered. Studying in small groups for special tasks is guaranteed, with excellent guidance provided directly by the professors and teaching staff. The training has practical relevance. Excursions to regional and national industries are a standard part of the course and students are happy to take advantage of them. The teaching content is agreed with industry to ensure that it includes practically oriented content, e.g. 3D system planning and process simulation (ChemCad).
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Students can do a semester abroad without problems. There are many universities to choose from. There are partnerships with international higher education institutions that are actively used (e.g. excursions). An English-speaking curriculum is available. Examinations can be taken in German or English. Bachelor's and Master's theses as well as work placements are offered for international students.

  • Special features regarding the equipment
    Teaching takes place in renovated buildings with the latest media technology as well as state-of-the-art and very extensive laboratory technology. Research can be conducted in one of the most modern libraries in Germany with e-media, WiFi and extensive access to national and international databases; Studies are organised via the university information system with computer support. WiFi is available throughout the entire campus. The university campus covers an area of 44 ha with several green areas that are perfect for relaxing and playing sport.
  • Special features regarding research and development
    The department of Engineering and Natural Sciences is characterised by intensive research activities and a high level of third-party funding. In the field of Chemistry and Environmental Engineering, key areas include process engineering of raw material conversion, recycling, biological methods, chemical and physical analysis as well as chemistry and plastics engineering. Several doctoral theses are currently being completed through cooperative doctorates. The university has numerous affiliated institutes, e.g. "Fluid and Pump Technology", "Institute for Polymer Research"", plastics competence centre.

    Student housing on campus: Sport, theatre, cinema on campus; Student church communities; Student clubs on campus; Nearby cities in commuting distance are Leipzig and Halle; Merseburg is a pleasant and quiet city for students with 35,000 inhabitants and affordable housing; Students can also study: Economics, Social Work, Media and Cultural Studies, Information and Communication Systems, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Physical Engineering.
