  • Special features regarding teaching
    Joint teaching with the Hochschule Ulm (Technical higher education institution) and the HNU (Business School). In this way, the benefits from two different subject areas are united in an inter-disciplinary manner. All teachers work as entrepreneurs. There are very close ties to industry, which participates in the teaching by setting tasks.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    A high proportion of Industrial Engineering students complete their internship abroad (e.g. China, USA, South Africa). The university maintains an international office for coordination with numerous partner universities in over 30 countries; the International Office also helps with internships and projects abroad; the university is audited as: HRK audit "Internationalisation of Universities" (2012/13); the university operates its own language centre where a variety of foreign languages can be learned. Some of these language courses are compulsory.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    At the partner university in Ulm, modern laboratories for production technology etc .; numerous DV laboratories; most modern software for business games and simulations; language laboratories for a variety of languages; logistics laboratory; university-wide WiFi access for the entire campus; state-of-the-art (multi-award-winning) library with a large number of databases and additional seminars for students; auditoriums with the latest presentation technology (not only projectors, but also visualisers and WIFI reception); Moodle e-learning platform is used lively for the contact between professors and students.
  • Special features regarding research and development
    Numerous research projects that are mainly carried out by academic staff; among industrial engineers, logistics and chaos research are particularly worth mentioning; the research staff (professors and research assistants) have joined together to form so-called competence centres in order to use synergy effects in similar research topics (for example logistics competence centre).
  • Support for founders
    Regular events: Career Night, medium-sized company forum; in addition: free start-up advice in cooperation with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Swabia (including mediation of mentors for business start-ups); seminar series "Key competencies": A seminar with useful information for company founders; "Founders' Workshop"; infrastructure is provided free of charge for start-ups (start-up room in the castle: Assignment for six months); advice on various funding programs from the federal government, the federal states, etc., provided by the university.
