Special features regarding teachingBachelor's degree course: Broad basis of fundamental knowledge of Natural Sciences, Technology and Business Administration. Intensive interlinking of Technology and Economics. Courses at a partner university abroad. Equally balanced components in Technology and Economics. Some lectures are also available online; Master's: Specialisation on the basis of a solid fundamental knowledge of Natural Sciences and Economics. Extensive project work optionally in Economics or the field of Technology.

Special features regarding the international orientationAn important feature of the Bachelor's is the compulsory semester abroad at one of several partner universities in Europe, North/South America, Asia, Australia and New Zealand or Africa (network of around 30 partner universities). Occasionally, international visiting professors are integrated into the curriculum. Selected courses are taught in English, with the participation of incoming students.

Special features regarding the equipmentWell-equipped laboratories for CAD, CNC/Manufacturing Engineering (various CNC devices, FDM Rapid Prototyping), microscopy (Atomic Force Microscopy, Scanning Electron Microscopy, EDX), Microsystems Engineering (clean room, various vacuum systems for thin-layer manufacturing and microlithography), Chemistry/Process Engineering (X-ray diffractometer, GCMS, etc.), Robotics and industrial image processing, numerous computer centres equipped with the latest hardware and software.

Support for foundersThe FH Wedel wants to act as a guide and promoter for new companies. It offers a special programme to support start-ups, which includes courses on entrepreneurship (lean start-up) and intrapreneurship, as well as practical courses (lean start-up workshop). The FH Wedel provides assistance in the preparation of business plans, an option for using the university's facilities in the early phase of a start-up, information, advice, contacts and infrastructure (e.g. smart lab) for quick prototyping.

Other special featuresThe Unternehmensforum Wirtschaftsinformatik (Business Informatics Company Forum, which currently includes more than 120 companies, promotes students and the course and is a direct communication platform between companies, the university and students. A number of events are held, including the "Unternehmen in die Hochschule" (Companies in the university) day with information stands and specialist talks from company representatives.
