Special features regarding teachingOur professors identify themselves with the Business Informatics section, which students immediately perceive. Almost professors teach exclusively at Business Informatics. We offer students personal support from a young, motivated and committed team of experienced practitioners. In teaching, we rely on small groups and a high proportion of exercises. The relationship between students and professors is uncomplicated and friendly. The highly committed student council makes valuable contributions to the academic success of students, even outside the course contents.
-
Special features regarding the international orientationOffer of short stays abroad (for a trial, e.g. 2-4 weeks). Currently 4 double degrees in Bachelor and 2 in Master, also to universities. This does not only promote internationalism, but it also simplifies access to a PhD position. We have 12 international university partners, even without a joint degree. The German-French University Institute of the htw Saar (DFHI) is a unique selling point in the German-speaking area. Overall, the regional location of Saarbrücken is optimal within the context of internationalism.
-
Special features regarding the equipmentThere is currently technical equipment in Automation, Manufacturing Technologies, Robotics, IT, Logistics and the like. Industry 4.0, most of which is integrated as part of courses. Students have access to specific publications (via the library), increasingly also through online access. In addition, there is specific software in the areas of Construction, CAD, Statistics, Languages. Extensive distance-learning support. In the course of the assured spatial expansion of the campus, further opportunities for laboratories will be created.
-
Special features regarding research and developmentThe professors of the section work together in a research institute. There are university-wide research projects and projects with the Saarland University. Close cooperation with the Centre for Mechatronics and Automation Technology (ZEMA), the model factory, the logistics institute Qbing, the institute for Supply Chain Management etc. These institutes are currently working on publicly funded research projects as well as partly privately financed projects. Guaranteed expansion of learning workshops / laboratories in 2020.

Support for foundersAward-winning series of lectures by the faculty "Startups and New Business Models"; EXIST network; good network with regional companies. Working Group Wirtschaft Freunde und Förderer e.V. of the htw saar (AHW e.V.) regularly organises events with company participation and on the subject of founding. Htw saar has successfully founded a centre for medium-sized businesses. In this way, too, interested parties gain access to the topic. Startup Weekend Saar 2019 event.
-
Other special featuresCombination of interdisciplinary skills in ONE separate section (instead of a matrix organisation). Hence very close exchange in the college; close and good cooperation with regional companies and organisations. Good contacts to industry; Memberships among others in VWI, VDI, in FFBT Industrial Engineering (active working member); we have a high proportion of women among students. Htw saar successfully passed the Reaudit internationalisation in 2019. Htw saar has been certified as a family-friendly university since June 2015. Top 4 in the CHE Ranking 2017.
