Special features regarding the international orientationSupport for Bachelor's, Master's theses and study projects abroad via professors' and lecturers' contacts. The phases of the compulsory elective modules offer students the option of spending part of the course abroad without needing to extend the length of the course. Teaching and learning agreements are concluded in advance for this purpose. Foreign work placements can also be recognised for the compulsory placements. Students are supported by the Erasmus officers. Modules held in English. Subject-specific courses offered by the Language Centre of the University of Rostock.

Special features regarding the equipmentExcellently equipped laboratories (machine hall / machine laboratory, flow hall / flow laboratory, strength hall / structural mechanics laboratory, welding laboratory, lightweight construction laboratory, fuel laboratory, etc.) and research hall with the latest large equipment (including vehicle and ship engine test benches, pressure tank, hydroacoustic test bench, heavy-duty component test system, 3D printer, welding robots, simulators); excellent IT equipment (WiFi access on campus, student PC pools for exercises and self-study, access to extensive software licenses); very well equipped specialist library.
Special features regarding research activitiesImmediate involvement of students in ongoing research projects for student work and as student assistants. Interdisciplinary research through cooperation with the interdisciplinary faculty of the University of Rostock and with non-university institutes, such as Fraunhofer Institution for Large Structures in Production Technology, Leibniz Institute for Catalysis e. V. Rostock, Leibniz Institute for Baltic Sea Research Warnemünde.
Support for foundersThe students have the opportunity to choose the modules "Idea generation and development", "Success factors of professional independence" and "Industrial property rights" within the elective area. In addition, the university group (vwi) offers various events and excursions and also establishes specific contacts.
