Special features regarding teachingWith our multi-professional team of professors from Civil Engineers, Economists, Computer Scientists to Lawyers and Psychologists, we can offer a very wide range of modules. In addition to the variety of the modules, there is the consistent seminar principle with small semester groups (group size in most courses is also under 35 people in the basic course). Courses are evaluated regularly. Special tutorials are meant to ensure learning success also in “critical” basic subjects.
Special features regarding the international orientationAn exchange agreement exists with the Zhejiang University of Science and Technology in Hangzhou / China. Thanks to the solid international contacts, free movers also find a wide range of support for foreign study periods and internships.
Special features regarding the equipmentThe department has excellent equipment. The lecture halls have all the necessary presentation media (e.g. interactive boards). Several lecture halls fully equipped with computers and many licenses are available for computer-supported courses. The "Virtuelle Welten" laboratory supports digital working, from model making to 3D printing. The library provides extensive databases on technical and business subjects.
Special features regarding research and developmentThe focus of R&D lies in the Institutes for Pipeline Construction (IRO), Material Testing (IfM) and Database-Oriented Design (IDOK). The IRO with its eponymous annual fair is one of the centres of the industry. The youngest institute, the IDOK, develops digital processes and tools for the cooperative processing of construction projects; short BIM. This laboratory and others currently plan nine cooperative doctorates with universities, including abroad. There are also many related bachelor’s and master’s degrees on current research topics.
