  • Special features regarding teaching
    Two specialisations: Technical Procurement and Sales and Corporate Management and Controlling (from semester 6); Economics and Engineering are distributed approx. 60:40; Major regional links to local industrial companies, such as Optima, Bosch, Audi, Würth; scholarship programme from local companies only for industrial engineers; currently ongoing project on gender-balanced teaching; current themes from practice through lecturers from industry; Close contact between students and teachers; 26 teachers for 264 students.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    The E-Commerce course teaches students, in English, the management-relevant fundamentals of the e-/m-business and its macro-and micro-economic effects. This provides students with a deep insight into international trade on the World Wide Web.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
    All the customary testing equipment for analysing the most important material and component characteristics, modern scanning electron microscope (SEM), micro-range analysis (EDX), modern light microscopy and image analysis, CNC universal milling machine, x-ray machines with goniometers; ultrasound experimental kit; wave machine; Wind tunnel, 3D printers.
  • Special features regarding research and development
    Current research focus: optimisation of transport processes when transporting finished parts in bulk; Development of methods to throw and catch objects with the aid of robots; Handling of problems in communication systems, in particular in energy supply.

  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    Disadvantage compensation for examinations: Students with disabilities can be granted extensions or may take exams in a modified form.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    Multi-year gender project: Integration of gender aspects in teaching contents, particularly the results from women and gender research, research findings of scientists and gender-sensitive didactics. Sensitisation of gender competence of teachers and students. Conclusion of the gender project with a travelling exhibition CAPABLE WOMEN and a panel discussion, where Industrial Engineering students, staff of the Heilbronn University and experts discuss the topic of gender, for example, by talking about their personal experience.
  • Other special features
    Integrative project laboratory: students are divided into teams and confronted with a typical customer problem from practice. To solve the problem, they have access to LEGO bricks and construction and programming software. The focus is always on efficient (customer) communication, purchasing and sales negotiations and on optimising the procurement processes. The aim is to cost out, develop and present a feasible prototype. The Wissenschaftskolloquium academic conference has been hosted three times in the last few years, with speakers from Singapore, USA, Canada and Belgium.
