Special features regarding teachingThe degree course teaches interdisciplinary content: 60% technology in the field of Engineering and Natural Sciences, 40% Economics, subject-specific language portion including a fixed semester abroad, foreign language teaching portions and two foreign languages are part of the curriculum. The knowledge of the basics and practical content typical of the field is conveyed in lectures, seminars and internships. 2-3 excursions / semester, practical semester, business game as well as presentations and final reports round off the course in a practical way. in an international context. On-site Master’s programme available.

Special features regarding the international orientationPartnerships/contacts with numerous international universities, which are referred as options for students via the International Office. Foreign officers and individual professors help arrange the stay abroad and have active contacts in EU and non-EU countries (e.g. China). Curricular share of approx. 20% in language acquisition; practical and travel semesters abroad and proportionate courses in English facilitate access to internationally active professional fields and companies; International Office events.

Special features regarding the equipmentThe technical equipment in the laboratories, computer, practical and seminar rooms, which can be used in the IBS curriculum, is outstanding and state-of-the-art. Students mainly use the laboratories for Manufacturing, Production, Process and Plant Engineering. In the required elective subjects or in the project there is the option of gaining experience in one of the other Faculty laboratories that is suitable to the subject. Possibility of business games.

Special features regarding research and developmentWith its inter-disciplinary approach, the IBS course profile in the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering has various fields of research. To this end, Process Engineering, as well as environment fields, Production and Plant Engineering are also a key focus, as well as some projects in Process Optimisation or with an Economics background.
