Special features regarding teachingThe teaching focuses on the challenges of the global economic area, but at the same time also meets the requirements of small and medium-sized companies (technical-economic cross-sectional tasks in a personal union); broad basic knowledge is imparted (4-semester basic course); choice of specialisation in Mechanical Engineering or Electrical Engineering; due to the close practical relevance of teaching, students are prepared for socialisation and work in the future business or scientific environment and prepared for lifelong learning.
-
Special features regarding the international orientationThe Department is actively involved in the Erasmus programme. Most foreign students from outside the EU come from Jordan and China as a result of the consortium with the German-Jordanian University in Amman (Jordan) and the German University Hefei’s (DHH) membership in the consortium.
-
Special features regarding the equipmentThe focus on “state-of-the-art production technologies” represents an essential feature of the technical equipment of the department. The department is equipped with the latest systems, machines and software and hardware for computer-aided methods. Two industrial laboratories (innovative manufacturing processes and function-optimised lightweight construction) and the centre of excellence for materials science / renewable raw materials also offer links to current application-oriented research topics, in which companies (SMEs) in the region are also involved.
-
Special features regarding research and developmentAbility to work on diverse tasks in application and research-related fields of activity; research content is to be seen as a unit of research and teaching as well as technology transfer in the engineering area, preferably with a regional focus. The content is determined by the institutes for Mechanical Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering and Technical Business Administration, which are involved in teaching, and focuses on the technical problem areas and cross-sectional economic areas (incl. Quality/Logistics Management, Market Research and numerous technical fields of application).
-
Support for foundersSince the 2016 summer semester, a new service has been available to students, graduates and researchers at the University Magdeburg-Stendal: The Start-Up and Transfer Promotion project (or “gründet” to use its German short name) combines all start-up and transfer initiatives and is thus the central point of contact for potential entrepreneurs and researchers at the school.
-
Other special featuresMagdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences offers an attractive campus ("Studying in Green Surroundings"), a wide range of support and support services ("Family-friendly university") and a gender-friendly environment. A degree course should become a valuable stage in life and promote professional skills as well as social skills. The close (also spatial) connection to the engineering sciences promotes interdisciplinary thinking and acting.
