-
Special features regarding teachingStudy is organised as a compact course in trimesters. The small number of students enables great proximity between students and teaching staff, which makes for very intensive communication (small group concept) and has a positive impact on the success rate in the degree course. While studying for their degree as officer candidates or officers students receive an adequate salary and mostly live on the university campus, which means they can fully concentrate on their studies and do need to take on a job to support themselves.
-
Special features regarding the international orientationStudents can take part in regular excursions abroad. English language courses totalling 8 ECTS are compulsory.
-
Special features regarding the equipmentThe research and teaching faculty has excellent technical facilities. It can be used as part of coursework and enables work on highly interesting and very current issues.
-
Special features regarding research activitiesThe faculty conducts intensive research particularly in the field of structural and environmental safety. This includes, for example, the stresses from forces of nature such as earthquakes, storms, floods, etc., but also the impact of explosions and other highly dynamic loads.
-
Support for foundersSince students who are members of the Bundeswehr usually return to military service for several years after their studies and individual industrial scholarship holders return to their respective companies, special measures to support company start-ups are unnecessary for graduates of the department.
-
Other special featuresThe department has its own mathematics chair, which means mathematics classes are tailored to the needs of civil engineering students.
