  • Special features regarding teaching
The psychology programme is interdisciplinary. This is ensured by both the internal structure of the individual courses as well as through the choice of compulsory and elective courses. Small number of lectures and numerous seminars in small groups allow a high level of interaction and the possibility to tailor material to individual interests. The latest research is integrated into teaching and students are encouraged to become actively involved in research projects themselves. The high degree of internationality of the student body at Jacobs University is fully integrated into the course topics.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
Research is a global undertaking. The close integration of research and teaching is therefore synonymous with international orientation. A semester abroad is also planned for students. In addition, degree programmes in psychology at Jacobs University have the explicit aim of preparing students for a productive approach to diversity, including cultural diversity. This is done both through modules explicitly devoted to this goal (for example in intercultural psychology) and indirectly by addressing diversity wherever possible.
  • Special features regarding the equipment
The Laboratory for Behavioural and Social Sciences at Jacobs University Bremen is structurally unique in the world and represents Europe's largest laboratory of its kind. Interdisciplinary research groups work with high-quality equipment in 77 test rooms at the 1,200 m² facility. These rooms are fully integrated into teaching, and students have direct access as part of courses, practicals and their own research projects. This includes: observation laboratories, AV recording and editing, psycho-physiology, AV admission and recording eye movement, EEG, eye movements, ergospirometry and software.
  • Special features regarding research activities
The department involves students in ongoing research projects at bachelor's level in the form of assistant positions or relevant bachelor's theses.
  • Support for founders
There is a Career Service Center tjat advises students on their career planning. This includes intensive guidance in preparing for the necessary work placements, as well as numerous training courses on a variety of career skills.
  • Other special features
Internationality, interdisciplinary approaches and very close personal contact with the professors are outstanding features of the psychology program at Jacobs University Bremen. Direct access to research and innovative courses are specially designed to meet the future requirements of graduates in research, teaching and practice. A network of former JUB Psychology students throughout the world exists and remains in contact with current students through social networks
