  • Special features regarding teaching
Chemistry and Biochemistry at FU Berlin is characterised by strong links with the Berlin research community. At the department there is a high degree of academic cooperation with other departments (joint projects). There are collaborations with several non-university research institutions. Although these links are focused on the international Master's degree course, they also benefit the Bachelor's degree course. Students already discover at the start of the course that Chemistry research is international and interdisciplinary in nature.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
Through the international Master's degree course and diverse research collaborations worldwide, students (especially those on the Master's degree course) are provided with a wide variety of opportunities for a stay abroad during their studies, which is fully recognised. FU Berlin provides organisational and financial support for these measures.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
The Institute of Chemistry and Biochemistry supports students with health problems on an ongoing basis by enabling the possibility of part-time studies, pre-booking rights for courses and individual support (e.g. symbiosis project).
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
The department has an action plan for the advancement of women which aims to support women in a number of ways.
