Special features regarding teachingThe acquisition of experimental skills is in the foreground, which is why there is a high proportion of laboratory practicals right from the start of the course; modern practical rooms with their own workstation for each student and no waiting times for laboratory practicals; individual supervision by lecturers; practical aspects are taught in the teaching by university lecturers, among others, who work both at the university and at external research institutes.
Special features regarding the international orientationTheses at internationally oriented research institutions with English as the laboratory language are possible (e.g. Max Planck Institutes, Leibniz Institutes); semesters abroad are possible via ERASMUS, the University of Jena offers exchanges with approx. 180 partner universities from 27 countries; some courses of the Master's degree courses are taught in English.
Special features regarding the equipmentThree new buildings with modern laboratories; modern equipment for all common measurement techniques is available; early introduction to these measurement techniques in academic studies.
