  • Special features regarding teaching
    From the very outset, the teaching focuses on providing basic training in all disciplines of chemistry. It then links this to research work. The key research areas of the faculty are already reflected in the range of compulsory elective modules in the Bachelor's degree course. The close networking with neighbouring faculties and non-university institutions allows for a tailored, interdisciplinary course, accompanied by guidance and service programmes at the faculty. Specific courses are offered for teaching-qualification students. modern practical equipment and access to research equipment. Proof of leadership skills possible.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    Erasmus programme with 24 partner universities. Worldwide research collaborations from which students can benefit, for example for final theses abroad, lab rotations etc. Various international research associations/clusters. Approx. 1/3 non-German professors as role models. Courses in cross-cultural skills. Access to major international research institutions, e.g. Spring-8 (Kyoto), ILL (Grenoble), SNS (Oak Ridge, USA). Option to participate in international conferences for advanced students and doctoral candidates.
  • Support for founders
    The faculty start-up officer advises those interested in setting up a business; the faculty is part of the SNIC Innovation Campus; patent and spin-off advice through MBM Science Bridge. University certificate covering entrepreneurship topics as part of advanced courses and then available for selection and accreditation in key competencies section of Chemistry programmes.
  • Characteristics of assistance to differently abled persons
    Lecture theatre with acoustic loop for students with hearing impairments, further aids for such students can be borrowed at university level; individual reasonable adjustments according to specific circumstances; professional guidance for those affected and the teaching staff from the representative for diversity at Universität Göttingen; campus plan with information for students with health impairments (information on accessibility of areas and rooms etc.). A number of accessible places in practicals and lecture theatres especially for wheelchair users.
  • Characteristics of diversity advancement
    Courses in equality as an element of leadership skills and in intercultural skills. Parent and child room and mobile toy boxes make it easier for parents to reconcile studying or work with children; starter package for women who lead a group of junior academics; responsibility for equality and diversity is organisationally assigned to the School Office.
