    Intensive linkage: research-based learning through a high proportion of lab practicals during the course accompanied by lectures and seminars. In the B.Sc. Elective modules in specialist fields in chemistry and other subjects (numerous collaborations with other departments), in the M.Sc. Areas of specialisation; external lecturers (from industry; numerous courses offered in other university & non-university research institutions (e.g. Max Planck Institute for Intelligent Systems, Institute for Nuclear Waste Disposal, Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing, Biochemistry Center).
