Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsWe work closely with the KIS (Contact and Information Office for students with disabilities or chronic illnesses; http://www.uni-bremen.de/index.php?id=2783) to promote students with health impairments. We give the students special support in exercising their right to disadvantage compensation for coursework and examinations. Disadvantage compensation can, for example, take the form of extending the time needed to take written examinations or by replacing one form of examination with another. The academic office advises students with health impairments accordingly.
Characteristics of diversity advancementThe issues of diversity and heterogeneity play a key role in the department to ensure that the resulting potential can be exploited and individual disadvantages compensated. When planning the courses, the needs of lecturers with families are taken into account (childcare times, holidays).
