Special features regarding teachingThe Chemistry degree programme in Erlangen is characterised by high academic demands and the close supervision of students. This applies to both the personal contact between teaching staff and students as well as the support by student tutors and the individual guidance our students receive from the study coordinator, the dean of studies and the Student Service Centre. Carefully coordinated and timed semester curricula are offered for the extensive number of courses.

Special features regarding the international orientationThe international orientation of the Department is reflected both in the global cooperation with numerous international research institutions, the many international guest lecturers as well as the intensive cooperation with the universities of Wollongong and Shenzen. Based on the Master's degree courses in Chemistry and Molecular Science, a dual degree M.Sc. programme is offered with the University of Wollongong (Australia). In addition, the department has many Erasmus partnerships with internationally renowned universities.
Support for foundersStart-up advice on campus: Aspiring founders can make use of advisory services for starting up their business. The university also offers comprehensive advisory services and information on start-ups and patent issues through its Contact Office for Knowledge and Technology Transfer. The city of Erlangen has "medical valley", a modern start-up and innovation centre where it is possible to hire workspaces.

Characteristics of diversity advancementThe academic and non-academic staff and the students in the Department of Chemistry and Pharmacy come from many different countries. The working language in the Master's degree programme and in the laboratories is therefore predominantly English. In line with the guiding principle of the Universität Erlangen-Nürnberg, no-one shall be disadvantaged on the basis of gender, nationality, religious affiliation, social background or disability. The Student Service Centre as well as the Course Office of the Department can be contacted in the event of problems.
