Special features regarding teachingThe Bachelor's degree course in Chemistry combines basic theory with modern practice and prepares students for the research-oriented and English-language Master's programme in Chemistry. A major strength of the department is the very good supervision of students due to the comparatively small ratio of students to professors in chemistry. In addition to the usual student counselling, lecturers of confidence are available for students who mediate confidentially in conflict situations.
Special features regarding the international orientationThe department has a strong international orientation and offers an English-language Master's degree course in "Chemistry" and an English-language Master's degree course in "Nanoscience and Nanotechnology". In the department, many international students study in the master's degree courses and in the doctoral degree course. The research groups in the department regularly host international guest researchers and collaborate in international research projects.
Special features regarding the equipmentThe Department of Chemistry and Biology has modern technical and apparatus equipment, a precision mechanics workshop and a glassblower. In addition, the Equipment Centre for Micro- and Nanoanalytics has the most modern large-scale equipment for micro- and nanoanalytics, which is made available to a wide range of users.
