Special features regarding teachingFollowing the broad basic training of the BSc in chemistry, students then specialise in the research-oriented MSc in chemistry. The MSc in chemistry covers almost all current topics in chemistry; the department is one of the largest chemical departments in Germany. Through cooperation with pharmacy and the fields of biology, physics and medicine, students can write interdisciplinary degree theses. In addition to the purely chemistry degree courses, there is also the MSc in industrial chemistry and the BSc and MSc in food chemistry.
Special features regarding the international orientationStays abroad are recommended as part of the MSc in Chemistry and can easily be arranged within the curriculum. Due to various coordinated procedures (TRR 61/PAK943: cooperation with Chinese universities; www.uni-muenster.de/TRR61; IRTG 2027: Münster-Toronto; www.uni-muenster.de/Chemie.ac/irtg2027), doctoral students have the possibility of completing a longer research project abroad as well. The work groups are composed of researchers from Germany and abroad.
Characteristics of assistance to differently abled personsActive support when it comes to planning the curricula of students with health problems.
Characteristics of diversity advancementAs work with school pupils has been reinforced (e.g. workshops as part of the International Chemistry Olympiad, specialist course practicals, Girls' Day), female school pupils in particular also have the option of making contact with female students and members of staff and discussing the diverse career prospects open to female chemists. The proportion of female professorships has also been increased, Likewise, there is a high degree of internationalism amongst the academics (see above).
