  • Special features regarding teaching
    Tutorials or exercises for all compulsory and elective courses. Strong integration of teaching and research in the form of research-oriented learning. Promotion of the development of own research ideas and teaching of mathematical and empirical methods for implementation. Targeted preparation for a doctorate. The Faculty of Economics and the Universidad de La Habana offer a two-week summer school in Havana every year.
  • Special features regarding the international orientation
    The Faculty of Business and Economics has its own international office, in which students receive information about stays abroad as part of the Erasmus exchange programme or with partner universities of the faculty or Humboldt University. The faculty has a total of 56 Erasmus partner universities and 12 faculty contracts with non-European partner universities. Students also have the opportunity to go abroad via the university-wide partner contracts of the Humboldt University.

  • Special features regarding research activities
    Research corresponds to the teaching profile, it is built on a solid economic basis and is focused on quantitative results. The research is conducted in large collaborative projects, e.g. in DFG-funded Collaborative Research Centres (CRC/TRR 190 & 266). The School combines its research activities with the training of young scientists, e.g. in DFG-funded Research Training Groups or in the Berlin School of Economics. The School closely collaborates with its partner institutions in Berlin, e.g. in joint research seminars, the support of early career researchers, and in joint professorships.

    The Faculty of Economics has its own non-profit association: The Wirtschaftswissenschaftliche Gesellschaft an der Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin e. V. (WWG) (The Economic Science Society at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin). The WWG supports students and young researchers with travel grants, finances Humboldt (Germany) and doctoral scholarships, organises lectures and discussion groups and supports the faculty in various ways (e.g. restoration of the Holy Spirit Chapel, renovation of lecture halls).
